Caitlin & Dan at The Naval Academy/ Chesapeake Bay Beach Club

July 21, 2012

It was another rainy day. I spent most of the previous night in the ER (long story). The day began when we met with Caitlin at the salon at 8:30 in the morning, then on to Caitlin’s house to shoot her getting ready. From there we moved on to The Naval Academy. We almost didn’t make it on time due to heavy traffic. Then we met resistance at the entrance because my name wasn’t on the guest list. I convinced the guard that I had confirmed earlier in the week, and he finally let me in, 5 minutes before the ceremony.

After the ceremony we shot the family in the gazebo and went to Mahan Hall for more indoor photos. The stairway was in the process of being painted, so that was something we had to work around. We then headed back into traffic and over the Bay Bridge to The Chesapeake Bay Beach Club. The beach club is the perfect place to get outside shots but the rain was relentless. Finally just before dark, we were able to get a few photos out on the beach when the rain stopped momentarily.

What a long day and very long weekend this was for me. Traffic nightmares, ER most of Friday night and rain, rain, and more rain. Rain or Shine we do our best to capture those special moments. All in all, both weddings were a success.

Good luck to this sweet couple, Dan and Caitlin.

Amy and Dave at the Chesapeake Bay Beach Club

July 20, 2012

First of all, I love this couple. Amy has such a wonderful personality and Dave is a great guy. I enjoyed shooting their wedding. Everything was beautiful, but this was a very difficult weekend for me. The weather was rainy all weekend. The Bay Bridge and Annapolis traffic was the worst that I have ever seen. I was caught up in it twice and it was entirely due to closure of the east bound lane on the bridge because of rain… seriously? Driving in rain is no more dangerous than driving at night or on a sunny day. Bad drivers can’t handle any weather conditions. Anyway, got that off my chest.

The most important thing for Amy was capturing a sunset. Unfortunately, nature disappointed us on this day. But their wedding was still beautiful, the story is special to them, and the photos were great. I am planning on doing a sunset session with Amy later. We will work it out.
