Jordan and Andy's wedding
This was one of my most favorite wedding in memory. Jordan, Andy and their families could not have been nicer. I totally enjoyed working with them the entire day as well as all the other family members and friends. I had so much fun!
I started the photography Friday night at the rehearsal dinner which took place at The Crab Claw in St Michael's MD. That gave me an opportunity to meet most of the group a day before the wedding. Family and friends alike.
On Saturday morning I went to Jordan's parents beautiful home in Oxford. It is right on the water, Lovely! Jordan and the girls were getting ready in the house and the guys next door in a large garage/barn. I was able to juggle back and forth to get both as they got ready.
The day started out nice and we did get some outdoor pictures at the house but by the time I arrived at the church in St Michael's it was raining. But that didn't damper any ones spirit. The wedding ceremony took place to a full house of guest. The church had plenty of natural light but the lighting was warm so it was a mix of warm and window light. Mike was in the balcony most of the time and I quietly moved from left to center to right in the lower level.
After the ceremony we they had a receiving line which allowed us to take our time in setting up for the formals. The formal pictures were knocked out pretty fast (even with the large wedding party) and since it was raining still I took some extra time to get some additional more relaxed images of Jordan and Andy using window light. using natural light whenever possible is always preferred. However, I did use a white lightning for the formals with an umbrella. Since it was a large wedding party I wanted to be sure to have enough power to get to f8 or more so everyone would be sharp.
Off to the reception at The Oaks in Royal Oak MD. The is a great location. The are first class and the facility is large with a good staff. I only wish the weather was nicer so we could go outdoors for pictures on the grounds by the water. I was here in October and it was beautiful. I did get a few things outside when Jordan and Andy came out to check out this out Fire engine that arrived. It was a surprise for Andy who is in the fire dept. It was fun getting them on the truck for pictures.
The band was absolutely fantastic. It was The Mutual Fun band. The lead singer was great. Very entertaining and good looking! The lead guitar was using a PRS and he was shredding at times. The bass guy switched between bass and a Taylor acoustic. The band kept everyone on the dance floor when they played. People were having a great time. I kept moving. Things were happening all over. My main thing is to keep an eye on Jordan and Andy. They are the show. Mike watched the dance floor so we didn't miss any action. I had a great time and by the end of the night I felt like I was part of the group. Everyone was so great. I felt like I made a bunch of new friends.
It ended with sparklers and the happy couple being driven away in a limo. Last shot.
It was a long day. I left my house at 9am and got home around midnight. But, the pictures were fabulous and my memories are theirs.
