The “getting ready”
pictures at Laura’s parents’ house kicked off the big day. They live on the
grounds of the golf club where the reception was held. Their back yard is the
golf course, which provided a nice backdrop for shots of Laura. The bridesmaids
were not ready, so I was only able to shoot Laura before leaving for The Chapel
at University of Maryland. The chapel sits on a hill overlooking the campus. The
stunning red carpet and curtains along with the pillars and wrap-around
balcony provided a beautiful backdrop for their wedding pictures. Following the
ceremony we took formal pictures inside and some informal shots out on the front
steps and sidewalk overlooking the campus. From there we proceeded to Manor
Country Club for the reception. We took the new county by-pass expressway (a
toll). Although one is tempted to drive fast on this nice road with no traffic,
I drove the speed limit, but we made good time. I managed to take a few images
by the golf course just before the reception. Laura and Dan threw a great party
with a good band, who they extended an extra hour. It’s hard to end the
reception when you are having so much fun, but the extra hour is usually not
very good (for pictures).
Laura and Dan had a wonderful wedding day. She was
beautiful, fun and relaxed. Dan and the entire wedding party were fun to shoot.
The guests had a blast too. I thoroughly enjoyed this wedding. It was great to
see some familiar faces, Caitlin and Tim, whose wedding I did a couple years
ago.
